This first webinar, “Groundwater Matters for People and Planet”, will take place on 27 May 2026 from 14:00 to 15:30 (Paris time / CEST). It will provide a clear understanding of the role that groundwater plays in people’s everyday life and its interactions with climate, the environment and dependent ecosystems.
LANGUAGE: session will be held in English, with simultaneous interpretation available in French and Spanish.

The UNESCO IHP and the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) are pleased to host a series of webinars entitled “Groundwater Matters” in cooperation with the RWSN – Rural Water Supply Network, and the World Bank, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), coordinators of the UN-Water Expert Group on Groundwater.
The three webinars aim to contribute to the 2026 UN Water Conference by examining the role of groundwater within the context of the six Interactive Dialogues and by addressing the challenges and opportunities related to the development, management, and governance of groundwater worldwide.
