22. mars avholdes konferansen «Vann og matsikkerhet» på CIENS i Oslo. Konferansen setter fokus på forholdet mellom vann og matsikkerhet og forklarer og utdyper begrepene “vannfotavtrykk” og “virtuelt vann”. Hvordan norske fag- og bistandsorganisasjoner jobber med problemstillingene gjennom konkrete prosjekter i utviklingsland blir diskutert.FN har utpekt vann og matsikkerhet som tema på Verdens vanndag i 2011. Stadig knappere ferskvannsressurser, hyppigere tørke- og flomepisoder truer ressursgrunnlaget for matproduksjonen, som i økende grad er avhengig av kunstig vanning.

2nd Conference on Modelling Hydrology, Climate and Land Surface Processes, 10th-12th of September 2012

Information

The integration of hydrology and meteorology is crucial for understanding present and future climate and its effects on various aspects of society. Extreme weather may cause increased frequency of floods, droughts, landslides and damages to infrastructure. The demand for and the production potential of renewable energyare also strongly linked to the hydro-meteorological system. The Norwegian Hydrological Council recognizes the need to bring together hydrologists and meteorologists to discuss the integration of meteorology and hydrology in all modelling activities that includes weather and water (e.g. weather forecasts, climate prediction, hydrological impact simulations including influence on water quality, climate and hydrological model coupling, environmental hazards).
The conference aims to address topics related to modelling the climate system and the interface with the land surface processes and hydrological impacts of changed climate.

Excursion
A boat trip on lake Øyeren will take us to the largest inland delta in Northern Europe and one of the most important resting places for migrating birds. Øyeren has a Norwegian record in number of fish species, and hosts one of the richest selection of water botanical species in the Nordic countries. The ever changing delta is located where Norway’s largest river, Glomma, enters Øyeren. During spring floods, large amounts of gravel, sand, silt and clay are deposited here by Glomma, which has caused a doubling of the delta area over the last hundred years. A presentation will be given by Peggy Zinke, Sintef Energy Research.

Vannforskning 2013: Vann og vei

Fagmøtet avholdes i Bø 3. desember. Studenter inbiteres til å presentere egne arbeider.

Møtet arrangeres av Høgskolen i Telemark og Norsk hydrologiråd.

Med møtet ønsker vi å presentere vannforskning i Norge som er knyttet til direkte eller indirekte effekter av veibygging eller veirelaterte aktiviteter på vannbevegelse og vannkvalitet.

Ph.d.- og masterstudenter inviteres til å holde foredrag eller posterpresentasjon. Et abstract på maks. 1 side sendes til nhrnve.no innen 18. november.
